Along with all other companies, ASE has entered the age of lead-free electronics, where products sold must increasingly comply with threshold values established by a growing number of communities and countries around the world, including Europe, Japan, China, and so on. Various entities have taken steps to protect and improve the quality of the environment, to protect human health, and to use natural resources rationally and prudently. Such legislative measures, focused on areas such as the elimination of certain elements and compounds, and the recycling of products, bring massive change not only for ASE and our customers, but for all other companies in the supply chain.
The adoption of lead-free technology, driven by legislative requirements and market forces, has involved significant changes in the materials, processes, and supply chain in the electronics industry. ASE hereby represents and warrants that all of the assembly products manufactured and delivered by ASE, its subsidiaries or affiliated companies, for the purpose of sale or providing assembly service to customer, will be in conformity with RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and the criteria, requirements and specification as set forth in the European Directive which took effect on July 1, 2006.
Through the establishment of a dedicated team, ASE is stringently keeping abreast of emerging standards and directives, and working closely with customers to ensure products are appropriately aligned and meet all legislative stipulations.
