    ASE Named Industry Group Leader in the 2017 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices

    ASE Cultural & Educational Foundation: Tree Planting Project 2017~2019

    The ASE Cultural & Educational Foundation has pledged its support to the Forestry Bureau of the Pingtung District by adopting 15 hectares of state owned land for three years. The company will plant 25,000 saplings in forests managed by the Pingtung Forestry Bureau that will expand the forest cover.     Algal Reef Protection on World Ocean Day

    ASE Records Purchase of 15.2 Million KwH Green Power in Past 4 Years

    ASE Group announced that its Taiwan facilities in Kaohsiung and Chung Li, had purchased 4.5 million KwH green power in 2017 from Taiwan Power Company (Taipower), a state-owned electrical power utility company. Since 2014, ASE has purchased an accumulated total of 15.2 million KWh (Kilowatt Hours) green power - reducing 8,025 metric tons of carbon emissions into the atmosphere and equivalent to the carbon sequestration from 660,800 trees.     Beach Clean Up by 400 ASE Volunteers on World Earth Day

    ASE Gears Towards a Sustainable World with the Presentation of the ‘Supplier Sustainability Award’ at its Annual Supplier Award Ceremony

    ASE Group hosted the annual 2016 supplier award ceremony at Kaohsiung, Taiwan on March 22nd, 2017. In addition to the ‘Best Supplier Award’ category that recognizes and honors outstanding suppliers, ASE added a ‘Supplier Sustainability Award’, an OSAT industry’s first. For the sustainability award category, ASE engaged an independent third party assessor to design questionnaires, tools and scorecards to evaluate suppliers on their sustainability practices. On-site assessments and interviews were conducted at suppliers’ premises to ensure supplier conformance on sustainability through legal compliance and business conduct, labor health and welfare management, environmental practices and social responsibility.     ASE Joins CDP Supplier Climate A List

    The Supplier Climate A List was established by the CDP, an international not-for-profit organization that drives sustainable economies. Over 4,300 companies submitted supply chain climate change disclosures to CDP annually for independent assessment against its scoring methodology. ASE is amongst the 3% of corporations that participated in CDP’s supply chain program to be awarded a position on the Supplier Climate A List.     ASE Group received the RobecoSAM Gold Class award in “The Sustainability Yearbook 2017”

    The RobecoSAM sustainability yearbook is a comprehensive publication that lists the world’s most sustainable companies in each industry as determined by their score in the annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment. 470 companies in 60 industries worldwide made the cut in the 2017 yearbook. ASE is the only OSAT (outsourced semiconductor assembly and test) company listed in the yearbook, and awarded both ‘Gold Class’ (within 1% of top performing company’s score) and ‘Industry Mover’ under the ‘Semiconductors and Semiconductor Industry’ category.     ASE Makes CDP’s Climate A List For the First Time

    CDP (formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project) is a not-for-profit organization that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts. On October 2016, the organization released the first global report ‘Out of the Starting Block’ on behalf of 827 institutional investors representing more than $100 trillion in assets. The report included the companies that made it onto the Climate A List 2016. ASE is honored to be among the 193 Climate A List companies that has been deemed to excel in the low-carbon movement and maintain an average carbon footprint around 80% lower compared to other firms.     Visit from EPA, Executive Yuan to ASE Kaohsiung’s Water Recycling Plant

    Since the 2013 K7 wastewater incident, ASE has taken the opportunity to further strengthen its internal infrastructures and policies in the management of environmental issues including wastewater discharge processes.     Endemic Species in Taiwan Forum (Taiwan Environmental Education Dialogue, TEED)

    The ASE Group today launched the Car-Free Day at its flagship campus in Kaohsiung Nantze Export Processing Zone. Car Free Day aims to encourage people to be less dependent on their cars and try more sustainable travel alternatives.     “4th National Survey of Forest Resources” Documentary

    The “4th National Survey of Forest Resources” documentary is another project in collaboration with the EQPF (Environmental Quality Protection Foundation). In commemoration of the 2016 World Earth Day – Trees for the Earth, the documentary was released on the TEED (Taiwan Environmental Education Dialogue) platform. The main objectives of this survey are : (1) to ascertain the total forest area nationwide, (2) to assess the current forest resources, (3) to establish a system for monitoring forest resources, and (4) to measure the amount of carbon sequestration from forests nationwide.     “Votive Forest” Project – Proactivity within a global network

    In collaboration with the EQPF (Environmental Quality Protection Foundation), ASE launched the “Votive Forest” project to reforest the most difficult places, including marginal lands and badlands in Taiwan.     ASE participates in CommonWealth Magazine educational program on creative teaching

    The ASE Group announces that it is a proud sponsor of an educational program initiated by CommonWealth Magazine, Taiwan’s influential bi-weekly publication. The program was launched earlier this year and encourages elementary and high school teachers from all over the island to participate by submitting their works in creative teaching methods. The theme of the program ‘Localizing while Globalizing’, aims to project the beauty and charm of the island of Taiwan by adopting methods with international perspectives and taking students on an interesting learning experience. Submitted works were entered into the creative teaching competition and the winners will have their works published and distributed to schools all over Taiwan.
