Our Major Sustainability Milestones

To support its sustainability efforts, ASE has established four strategic pillars: Low Carbon, Circular, Inclusive, and Collaborative, with defined carbon reduction pathways for 2030 and 2050. ASE is advancing its net-zero transition through five guidelines: Carbon Credit Investment, Renewable Energy, Low-Carbon Transportation, Low-Carbon Products, and Supply Chain Engagement.

In renewable energy adoption, 19% of energy across ASE manufacturing sites comes from renewable sources, with 88% of the company’s facilities utilize renewable energy, with 10 sites already achieving the RE100 target. ASE has also received approval from the Ministry of Environment for the "Low-Stockpiling Forest Carbon Sequestration Project" methodology applicable in Taiwan, demonstrating innovation in climate action.

ASE has launched five key initiatives for supply chain engagement: promoting a low-carbon vendor selection strategy, enhancing supply chain carbon data, encouraging low-carbon models for materials and equipment, adopting upstream low-carbon transportation, and building a low-carbon supply chain. Sustainability performance now accounts for 10% of supplier evaluations, motivating suppliers to strengthen their sustainability management.

ASE collaborates with 19 key equipment suppliers on energy-efficient machinery, targeting 20% energy savings by 2030, while supporting suppliers in measuring greenhouse gas emissions and product carbon footprints, advancing supply chain decarbonization globally.

In 2024, ASE completed 56 smart factories and continues transforming facilities into low-carbon green buildings, with 14 green factories and 28 green building certifications. By prioritizing source reduction and environmentally friendly materials, ASE minimizes waste and implements circular economy practices, earning the UL2799 Zero Waste to Landfill certification.

For water resource management, ASE operates Reclaimed Water Recycling Plants at four sites, specifically designed for industrial wastewater reuse. The wastewater is treated to ultra-pure water quality for recirculation. Notably, the ASE Kaohsiung plant, the first of its kind in Taiwan, allows each drop of water to be reused up to 4.25 times, significantly reducing water consumption and wastewater discharge.

ASE continually invests in talent cultivation and fosters an inclusive workplace. ASE implements training programs focused on sustainable talent development, AI-driven digital transformation, multiculturalism, and leadership management, ensuring a strong talent pipeline for the future. In 2024, female representation in management positions reached 29.7%, continuing an upward trend.

ASE has implemented maternity and family support measures that exceeds legal requirements, including maternity and paternity leave, time off for prenatal check-ups, childbirth subsidies, and childcare allowances. ASE also promotes the “Workplace Maternal Health Protection Program” and operates three kindergartens worldwide and an employee elderly day care center, helping employees balance career and family responsibilities.

ASE actively supports foreign talent, providing onboarding training, Mandarin language courses, and programs to help foreign employees earn degrees and advance into management roles.

ASE works closely with the ASE Environmental and Sustainability Foundation, the ASE Cultural and Educational Foundation, and the Chang Yao Hung-Ying Social Welfare Charity Foundation to environmental philanthropy, community development, and social care initiatives. It maintains long-term forest and ocean protection projects, with a new afforestation area reaching 16.84 hectares in 2024. ASE also trains the ASE Environmental Dive Team, collaborating with employees, supply chain partners, and NGOs on beach and ocean cleanups, removing 5.86 metric tons of waste in 2024, and actively promoting watershed co-prosperity and ecological conservation.

In educational outreach, ASE hosted the "Sustainable Innovation Competition" for three consecutive years to nurture sustainable technologies, collaborating with winning teams to implement projects. Additionally, ASE organizes the "ASE Youth Sustainability Innovation Competition Camp" and the "ASE Sustainable Exploration Camp," cultivating sustainable awareness among youth and planting the seeds for a greener future.

With its comprehensive approach to sustainability, ASE Technology Holdings continues to lead the way in responsible manufacturing and corporate social responsibility, setting a benchmark for others in the industry.
