November 19, 2020

ASE Technology Holding Co announced that it has received recognition in eight categories at the annual Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA). The eight award categories are: Growth through Innovation, Supply Chain Management, Social Inclusion, Climate Leadership, Circular Economy Leadership, Information Security, Corporate Sustainability Report (Platinum), and CSR English Report (Gold). In addition, ASE was also awarded the ‘Top 10 Domestic Companies Sustainability Model Award (Manufacturing Industry)’.

“As a leading enterprise, ASE has always been focused on sustainability development and consciously promoting environmental and social programs. We are truly honored and humbled that our efforts have been validated by various esteemed organizations including the TCSA,” said Jason Chang, Chairman and CEO, ASE Technology Holding Co.

“To facilitate the advancement of semiconductor heterogeneous integration, ASE has accelerated the progress of the company’s digital transformation. With our migration to Industry 3.9, we are setting up smart factories (18 by the end of 2020) and actively training a large pool of skilled and competitive workforce. In addition, managing cybersecurity risks and threats is critical for us to protect our customers, suppliers and employees’ data integrity. To that end, we have encouraged all our facilities to apply for ISO27001 certification. ASE has also adopted the NIST CSF (National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework) to perform overall cybersecurity maturity assessments and provide effective management and mitigation of risks,” said Tien Wu, COO, ASE Technology Holding Co.

The increasing impact of climate change on businesses and the environment has deepened ASE’s commitment to a circular economy that aims to reduce carbon, waste and water consumption. ASE leverages on technology and product improvements, combined with the synergy between employees, suppliers and customers to jointly promote the five key elements of the circular economy – ‘direct recycling’, ‘reuse’, ‘offsite regeneration’, ‘renewable materials’ and ‘supply and rental’. Within the manufacturing process, ASE has also implemented low-carbon transportation logistics to maximize resource efficiency.

ASE participates in the CDP and TCFD (Task Force for Climate-Related Financial Disclosure) disclosure frameworks, and conducts annual risk assessments across all ASE sites. From the assessments, ASE draws up sustainable actions to fine-tune the business operation and create a positive influence within the supply chain.

“ASE’s corporate sustainability is based on four strategic pillars – low carbon, circular, inclusive and collaborative, which serve to strengthen its core capabilities and advance sustainable development. The company has a strong ESG culture that is spread throughout its 25 facilities worldwide, and is proactive in supporting environmental and meaningful public issues. We are also leading efforts to drive sustainability development within our supply chain through SCM strategies, and developing stable partnerships that ensure supply chain resilience and responsible procurement.

ASE continues to focus its efforts on energy conservation and carbon reduction, natural ecological conservation and charitable activities, and is working closely with local communities, public welfare organizations, industry, government and academia. We have also been conducting diligence on the impact of programs on the environment, society and economy. In 2019, we donated a mobile clinic that would ensure that medical care is available for the elderly in rural communities. The company also organized health care courses for the elderly and educational activities for children. The deployment of corporate resources to implement these programs will enable the company to play a bigger role in social development and value creation,” said Dtuang Wang, Corporate Administration Officer, ASE Technology Holding Co.

“Every award that ASE has received becomes the driving force for self-transcendence and progress. We will continue to play a positive role and give back to society by maintaining a high standard in corporate social responsibility, and integrating all resources into various sustainable development projects,” added Jason Chang.
