ASE announces the official release of the Equipment Energy Management White Paper at the Sustainable Supply Chain Technology Exchange Forum

April 25, 2025

ASE hosted the Sustainable Supply Chain Technology Exchange Forum, focusing on topics such as energy-saving innovations and carbon emission management in the IC packaging and testing industry. At the forum, ASE officially released the Equipment Energy Management White Paper, reinforcing the semiconductor industry's commitment to energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and sustainable development. ASE invited supply chain partners to adopt a source-level approach, sharing practical experiences in energy-saving equipment design and demonstrating a unified effort across the value chain toward achieving net-zero emissions.

In response to global sustainability trends and increasingly  stringent customer requirements, ASE is intensifying supplier collaboration to improve energy efficiency. At the forum, the company’s senior management — Mike Hung, Michael Lee, Sunny Li and Jimmy Chen — officiated the inaugural launch of the white paper. Since 2023, ASE’s energy-efficient design initiatives have targeted high-energy-consuming areas in manufacturing and procurement. The white paper outlines technical standards and innovative designs, working with suppliers to develop next-generation, low-energy, high-efficiency equipment that will help reduce electricity consumption per unit output by 20%.

In 2024, ASE Kaohsiung joined the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Sustainable Supply Chain Transformation Program, collaborating with 14 suppliers to implement carbon management models. As of March 2025, the  program has successfully achieved a cumulative reduction of 15,000 metric tons of carbon emissions. This year, participating suppliers are also being  guided to adopt ISO 14064-1 for greenhouse gas inventory and ISO 14067 for product carbon footprint assessments. These actions aim to identify major  emission sources and assist suppliers in setting science-based carbon reduction targets, contributing to ASE's goal of reducing the supply chain's carbon footprint by 20% by 2030.

To support sustainable corporate transformation, ASE is partnering with the Kaohsiung City Government’s Net Zero Academy to design professional training programs that cultivate green talent in the industry. These courses will help suppliers enhance their carbon reduction knowledge and hands-on capabilities. Through cross-sector collaboration and sharing of best practices, the Sustainable Supply Chain Technology Exchange Forum empowers suppliers with a more comprehensive understanding of sustainability challenges and  effective response strategies — together building a competitive, green supply network.
