ASE Marine Protection Project Enters Fifth Year: Connecting Taiwan for Sustainable Action on World Oceans Day

Marine debris and ecological conservation continue to draw widespread attention. Since 2022, the ASE Environmental Sustainability Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the "Foundation") has been promoting the "Marine Protection Project," which has now entered its fifth year. The project has evolved from early coastal cleanups into underwater cleanups, environmental education, ecological surveys, and coral restoration—transforming marine protection from a single event into a long-term commitment. On June 6 this year, the Foundation synchronized beach and underwater cleanup operations across 12 marine sites in Taiwan, marking a new stage of systematic marine protection. This initiative not only invited employees and their families to participate, but also saw a collective response from 32 stakeholders and 2 affiliated enterprises across various sessions throughout Taiwan, continuously scaling up the momentum of marine protection efforts.

The Foundation aims to extend marine protection beyond the shoreline and address the marine ecosystem more comprehensively. During this year's implementation, the Foundation introduced the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) marine debris recording methodology, applying it at the Taipei event to ensure that cleanup results serve as more than just on-site metrics, but also as vital data for subsequent environmental management and conservation efforts.

At the same time, the Foundation continues to invest in diver training, having trained over 200 divers to date. It has also partnered with National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology to advance a coral restoration project. By establishing baseline data for coral ecosystems through scientific methods and executing restoration work, marine conservation goes beyond removing visible waste to gradually restoring vitality to marine ecosystems.

Raymond Wang, Chief Administrative Officer of ASE Technology Holding Co., Ltd., stated that as the Marine Protection Project enters its fifth year, the priority is not merely completing an event, but inspiring more people to participate on an ongoing basis. From coastal cleanups to underwater restoration, and from corporate employees to community partners, ASE aims to turn marine conservation into a long-term, continuously accumulating sustainable practice through every single action.
